The State Department reviewed WISE 8 file On 2 June 1954; and 85 of
September 1962 a Samuel G: WISE was Second Secretary Of the American
Embassy in MOscOw. At that time WISE advised in 8_ cable to the State
Department that it eppeared that Bruce Frederick DAVTS, #352267, wo
defected from the United Stetes Arny in Germany on 18 August 1960, had

was security approved subject to polygreph on 1l August 1953. He dia

interested in him was "no longer interestea" On 13 November 1953,
WISE wes granted a CSA to permit his use as a contrect employee On
ABACTIVE in New York City. His CSA was canceLled on 24 March 1958 _

during an investigation_of the latter for possible CTA employment in 1952.
WISE, according MUNSETT s landlady and social acquaintance in Weshington,
D.C: during the period of about a year wich ended in April 1952, was the
only person she knew by name with wom (MUNSET was friendly. According
to the informant, WISE was 8 student at Colubia University whobe address
