The Station copies 0f the original. reports on SZULC have
been destroyed. I attach, however_ 4 memorandun congisting of
gelected. ontrie8 from his c ard.
2; ALl the information is from the same source a Poligh
who knew SZULC pergonally and . also had informnantg in the Polish Embassy
3. There i8 little doubt that SZULC, was pro-comunist at the time
and that he co-operated with Ignacy SACHS , 8 cousin who wag employed
by the Pre88 Section 'Of .the Polish Embasey and provlded him with
"information" It woula
3
however be wnwige. to junp to the conclusion
that' thig collaboration took the forn of espionage since SZULCo does
not geem to have made
any 8 ecret of the relationehtp.
I can fin no evidence that Ignacy SACHS was an intelligence
officer but he Beems to have been an active propagandist_ Ha returned
to Poland in 1954. A report same source , dated June 1956 ,_
stated that he then occupied the Brazilian desk at the Polish Ingtitute
for Internetional Affaire.
